L’Agulhas:

• Visit the Southernmost Tip of Africa where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. The Lighthouse which is close by, houses a very unique lighthouse museum.

• Hiking trail on the coast from the Lodge to the Lighthouse and Southernmost Tip of Africa and back (1.5 hours).

• Fynbos hiking trail: the Ghost Corner hiking trail is a circular route, starting at the Lodge (1.5 hours).

• Whale watching – June to December.

• Bird watching – (bird friendly establishment).

• 4 x 4 Landrover Beach safari through the Agulhas National Park. See rare birds, shells and archeological sites dating back 10 000 years. www.coastaltours.co.za

Struisbaai:

• Safe swimming at Struisbaai sandy beach (Indian Ocean) and fantastic kite surfing in the safe bay.

• Canoes, surfboards etc. available to rent in Struisbaai from Way Down Africa Adventures.

• Boat trips for fishing (also deep sea Game fishing) and sightseeing/sundowner cruises from the beautiful Struisbaai fishing harbour.

Surrounding Area:

• Nature Reserves – Guided or self drive visits to De Hoop (1 hour) or De Mond (25min)

• Nuwejaarsrivier Wetland Special Management Area – very exciting new reserve. See Cape Buffalo, hippopotami and various antelope species. Excellent bird watching with hides. Only 25 minutes away, close to Elim. www.nuwejaars.com

• Elim wine route – the southernmost wine route in Africa is open and well worth a visit. There are at least 6 wine estates, some with restaurants, within 30 min drive.

• Farm visits available to wheat, merino and cattle farms, some offering country lunches.

• The picturesque village of Arniston is only 30 min drive away and is well known for its big sea cave and 200 year old fishermen’s village, Kassiesbaai.

• In Bredasdorp visit the Kapula candle factory, Julians Ceramics gallery and the unique Shipwreck museum.

• Golf clubs to rent from the Lodge to play at Bredasdorp Golf Course (Southernmost Golf Course in Africa, very nice 9 hole with clubhouse).
