  • Very tragic fatal accident of our dear friend and ex-colleague Dave Stock in his British Electric Lightning, sadly he had complete hydraulic failure and the ejection seat could not be activated.    A brilliant test pilot with almost 16 000 flying hours, he will be dearly missed.
  • We have opened a new beauty salon and have a full time therapist, Chariska Laubscher, who trained at the Isa Carstens International School of Beauty in Stellenbosch. Chariska is a local young lady from Bredasdorp and takes tremendous pride in her new job. We stock Vitaderm beauty products and offer a range of massages and all the usual beauty treatments.

  • We would also like to welcome to our team, Gilbert Gutsa, who is our new chef.  Gilbert has mostly worked in restaurants that serve Afro-Portuguese food and we love what he does in the kitchen, so expect some real African influences in our cuisine.

  • Our daughter Chelsea, who is studying tourism at the Boland College in Stellenbosch is passing all her exams with flying colours.  She is in attendance at the lodge most weekends and is a brilliant all-rounder.  She can stand in as secretary, manager, chef and her favourite job – bar lady! 

  • Julienne, our oldest daughter  is now officially a 4th year scholar of medicine, having passed all her exams!  

  • We have had terrible wind in Agulhas this November but hope that the weather for December will be absolutely fantastic

  • This Rock Kestrel couple (we believe they mate for life) have been breeding in the eaves of the top balcony of the Lodge for at least 10 years.  Every year they return to their nest and entertain us with their flying precision and aggression towards other birds to protect their nest, even big gulls.   The new chick has hatched and we are anxiously awaiting its appearance, albeit a very noisy and hungry one.  

    Our house in Blue Bay Private Nature Reserve is progressing well after being dormant for a while (recession!) – we hope to have solar power by the end of the year!  See photos of the house under our Property section.
